A community for all things fungal in Quesnel and the surrounding area. Everything from foraging wild mushrooms for food or dyes to observing mycelium under a microscope. Whether you're a beginner looking to learn, a seasoned picker, or just an admirer of mushrooms; all folks and all experience levels are welcome.
MycoMap BC is a community-science driven project using iNaturalist and DNA sequencing to document fungal biodiversity across British Columbia. Through the project, anyone can make collections of fungi and slime moulds and submit them for sequencing. Together, we're building a comprehensive and high quality data base of fungi in BC.
A large portion of mushrooms in British Columbia are not yet named or described, and our baseline data on fungi is lacking- especially in Central and Northern British Columbia. Anyone can make important and meaningful contributions by collecting and sending in fungi - no mycological expertise needed!
You can learn more about the project here.

Don't munch on a hunch. Never eat a wild mushroom unless you are 100% certain of it's identity and edibility status.
